About Jonas Sorman

Jonas Sorman is a Swedish-born composer and producer whose work bridges classical training with modern technology. Growing up along Sweden’s west coast, he was inspired by the stark beauty of Nordic landscapes and the warmth of Scandinavian folk traditions. In the early 1990s he relocated to Los Angeles to attend the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, a move that broadened his musical horizons and introduced him to a vibrant community of artists.

Beyond music, Jonas is passionate about healing and recovery. After overcoming his own struggles with addiction, he spent several years working in addiction and mental health treatment, developing programs that combine creativity with cognitive behavioural therapy. These experiences deeply influence his compositions, which often explore themes of resilience and transformation.

Today, Jonas channels his heritage and personal journey into The Modern Composer project. Through a constellation of personas – each representing a different facet of his musical identity – he invites listeners into a universe where imagination meets authenticity. From orchestral textures to meditative ambience and forthcoming lofi beats, his goal is to create a platform that celebrates creativity, connection and northern culture.
